A Whimsical Holiday Tablescape with Wayfair – Happy Friendsgiving!
’tis the season for FRIENDSGIVING
Since Thanksgiving is normally spent at other family members’ houses, my husband and I love to host our own little “Friendsgiving” a few weeks after for our close group of friends.
As someone who loves to decorate, this event is always something I look forward to. Oh, and my husband is a pro at the pellet smoker, so we all look forward to this day! Smoked Turkey, anyone?!
I had SO much fun coming up with a whimsical holiday theme with thanks to Wayfair. They have such an amazing variety of holiday decor, table linens and dinnerware for the holiday season! With Wayfair’s large variety of products, I found it incredibly easy to bring my holiday tablescape vision to life.
This year, we thought we’d host dinner outside in our yard. Before you question our sanity, we live in Phoenix where it averages 75 degrees and sunshine pretty much every day in November. It’s absolutely BEAUTIFUL here!
Our patio and backyard tends to be the place where we all end up anyways. Nothing beats sitting back with a warm beverage and watching the dogs (and our newly walking toddler) play in the yard.

A Whimsical Christmas Tablescape with Wayfair
Growing up in Phoenix always made me feel like I was missing out on all of the holiday aesthetics. The movies tend to make Christmas center around snowy weather, sleigh rides and warm fires. It is really quite the opposite here in the southwest!
I don’t think I truly appreciated how beautiful the holidays were in Arizona until I became an adult. Our holidays are always filled with sunshine, amazing weather, fantastic homemade tamales and rose gardens in bloom. It really is quite whimsical and joyful.
If you live in the southwest, you may know what I mean!
Christmas Tablescape Centerpiece
Our backyard rose garden always put on quite the show throughout the holiday season, which really inspired this whimsical Christmas tablescape!
It’s hard to compete with red roses, but these coral bottlebrush trees from Wayfair easily became the main characters in this centerpiece. I am truly obsessed!
The center of the table is draped with two pieces of this faux cedar garland. I am so impressed by how real this faux cedar garland looks! It was so easy to handle and you can’t beat the price.
We made our own dehydrated orange slices and added a few colorful candy canes to bring in more fun Christmas colors.
Christmas Table Setting Dinnerware
After browsing Wayfair’s Holiday section, I came across these adorable Christmas salad plates. They are perfect for the theme! I love the mismatch designs and the dainty red border. They are also microwave and dishwasher safe which is a must for me.
I love that these little Christmas plates can be paired with any simple dinner plate to make a statement without having to buy (and later store away) a whole new set of dishes. Mix in some gold flatware, coordinating napkins and it looks like a complete holiday dinner set!
Instead of doing a more formal napkin arrangement, I just folded the napkins in half and sandwiched them in-between the dinner and salad plates.
I really didn’t want to take away from the adorable designs on the plates, so I went with these simple striped napkins from Wayfair in the color “sierra”. The color is the perfect muted red!
Christmas Table Setting Drinkware
Want to hear a secret? This crystal style pitcher and cocktail glasses are not even glass! They are acrylic and perfect for outdoor entertaining. They are STUNNING!
We all end up hanging out on the patio with our drinks after dinner, so it is nice to not have to worry about broken glass. Especially since we have curious beagles and an even more curious toddler.
Last but not least! These copper mule mugs are always a crowd pleaser. They are beautiful to look at, but they also keep your beverage at the perfect temperature.
With these copper mule mugs, hot beverages stay nice and warm as the sun goes down and moscow mules will stay iced cold without the ice melting. I personally love mixing ginger ale, a splash of cranberry juice and little Irish Whiskey.
These mugs will forever remind me of Christmas!
Thanksgiving al fresco – The best bistro lights!
The holiday table setting looks beautiful during the day while the sun peeks through the leaves above. However, there is something so magical about a “candlelit dinner” under bistro lights.
We installed these bistro lights on a low branch from our giant ash tree and it is such a vibe! I will definitely be grabbing a few more sets for our main patio.
They are LED, shatterproof and give off the perfect amount of warmth and brightness. The end pieces connect which makes adding a few more strands a breeze!
I am so happy with how it all came together! I envisioned a whimsical, relaxed Christmas table setting and Wayfair had the most perfect pieces to bring that vision to life.
