How is it already the end of July?! I’m not going to lie, this time of the year always gets to me. It’s crazy hot in Phoenix and alllll of the back to school ads are out solely to haunt me. Oh, and did I mention it is hot here?
I will be honest, I felt a little bitterness towards setting up my classroom today. I’m just going to say it: Last year was a rough one. I have wonderful students, a fantastic administration and the best coworkers, but I was just constantly exhausted last year.
I began to reflect on what it was about 2018-2019 that left such a bad taste in my mouth.
Last year, I never treated myself to anything. I didn’t get my nails/hair done EVER, because I wanted to save money. I didn’t put that much effort into my appearance everyday, because I wanted to sleep longer. My evening walks with my dog were always cut short, because I didn’t want to use up too much time. I even took on a second teaching job after school, because I wanted more money in my paycheck.
I was consciously making these choices thinking it was 100% “for the better” only to realize a year later, “man, that was my worst year of teaching.” Despite sleeping an extra half hour every morning, I was always exhausted. Sure, my wallet was full from the extra job and savings, but I was spent.
This year I am making an effort to put myself first, pamper myself and learn to say “no” to extra hours at work. Bailey the beagle deserves longer evening walks haha!

The Recipes:
As stated before, this month’s theme is all about skin care. As a fan of natural skin care, I totally geeked out once I saw this month’s oils! First of all, if you don’t own Frankincense by now you NEED it. There are so many people out there that swear by the healing powers of Frankincense. Some even claim that it has reduced tumor size and growth with cancer patients.
You also get Rosemary and Clove which are two gorgeous and highly useful oils. Not to mention, they all smell like fall!
What really gets me excited about this month’s box is the recipes! There is a 6 step facial regime and a diffuser blend.
Frankincense Face Scrub – A mixture of brown sugar, oatmeal, honey and frankincense. Heavenly! I cannot wait to try this one out. What a cute Christmas gift idea too?! {too soon? sorry…}
Rosemary Facial Steam – All the benefits of Rosemary will go strait to your pores with this facial steam!
Hydrosol Facial Toner – Homemade face toner using the included Lavender Hydrosol and ingredients you already have in your kitchen. I don’t use toner often, so I am super excited for this one!

Feel Good Morning Diffuser – A blend of Frankincense, Clove and Rosemary. Fall? Is that you? This blend is uplifting, cozy and spiritual! I love the little reminder that fall is just around the corner.

My Honest Review:
This may just be my favorite recipe box yet! The oils you receive are fantastic and perfect for skin care, however they are really “do all” oils. I will get sooo much use out of these! Rosemary oil added to shampoo helps your scalp balance oils. Clove is such a good air cleaner! Frankincense is basically magical… the list goes on!
My favorite part of this box is the 6 step facial regime. I love that I get to create my own natural scrub, toner, moisturizer and mask. I’ve recently committed to using cruelty free + clean skincare. I have seen so much improvement in my skin without all of the chemicals! Needless to say, I cannot wait to try all of these homemade products.
All of Simply Earth’s oils have been such high quality. The scents are strong, but not overpowering. I probably say this every month, but this month’s oils just might be my favorite. They had me at Frankincense… but honestly these are all incredibly useful, beautiful oils!

Ummm… Frankincense haha! {Bet you didn’t see that one coming} I am a huge fan of earth scents. Any fragrances with Patchouli will draw me in like a moth to a flame. Frankincense kind of reminds me of patchouli! It has that spicy earth scent that is sooo interesting. Every time I smell it, I just want to smell deeper and deeper just to nail every fragrant note. You know what I’m talking about?
The comforting and healing powers to this oil are real! When my dog was super sick with a respiratory illness, I used to put a little Frankincense mixed with coconut oil behind her ears at night. She would sleep soundly without any wheezing or coughing! It is also a good remedy for asthma. Just remember, frankincense is basically magical.
Any Cons?!
Last month, I mentioned how hard it was to find a “con”. The same goes for this month. These are all super popular, everyday oils that can be used for so many recipes other than skin care! Some of the recipes call for ingredients that aren’t your “everyday kitchen” ingredients. However, all of these extra ingredients are included in the Big Blue Bonus box!
