Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Try On!
The 2023 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale kicks off in a few days!
Apparently, the ability to purchase Anniversary Sale products was not deactivated once the preview went live on July 3rd. I purchased a few items thinking that they would just be cancelled due to it being an error, however they shipped within the hour!
Within ten minutes of purchasing my items, Nordstrom shut down their website to fix the error. wah wahhh…

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Try On – LOST + WANDER Floral Print Midi dress.
One of the first items to catch my eye in this year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale was this LOST + WANDER Floral Print Midi dress.
The color is stunning and the floral design is perfect for fall transitioning, weddings and styling multiple ways year around.
I immediately knew I wanted to style is with a chunky cable knit sweater and some fall mules. It turned out just as I envisioned!
Worth it? Yes! I have tried my share of satin midi dresses, and this by far tops them all. The dress is true to size with a zipper, fully lined and it fits like a glove (wearing size small). There is no gaping and the straps are adjustable. It isn’t an essential item, but it still can be styled so many different ways!

- Free People Ottoman Slouchy Tunic Sweater (pomegranate wine) – runs 1 size large. I prefer getting my normal small for the slouchy oversized tunic fit.
- Steve Madden Bootie (chestnut suede) – Ordered 1/2 size up for my wide foot. Classic color & silhouette. very comfy!
- Steve Madden Mules (cognac suede) – Previous year mules, but they look very similar to this year’s Cassady Loafer by Steve Madden. TTS.
- Amazon Coatigan – A staple in my wardrobe! Will be on sale this Prime Day! Wearing size Small.

- Ottoman Slouchy Tunic Sweater (wine small, taupe xsmall) – A good staple piece! I prefer my normal size (small) for the oversized fit.
- Faux Leather Leggings – lasts forever and I wear them all the time! tts, wearing a small.
- Black Boots – Not a sale item, but these are the best imo! They are waterproof.
Free People always has an oversized sweater included in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. In recent years, they have not released anything “brand new”, but just repeats of previous year’s sweaters in somewhat new colors.
This year we have another repeat, but it’s a good one! The Ottoman Slouchy Tunic Sweater is the perfect basic oversized sweater. I love that it is not as heavy as last year’s “Free People Swim Too Deep” chunky oversized sweater.
I purchased this sweater tunic in the taupe and wine (below) shades. Both are stunning!
Ottoman Tunic Sweater Size Comparison
Free People sizing notoriously runs big…sometimes HUGE! I ordered two sizes to compare.
For reference, I am 5’3 and usually wear size 2/4 or small. I can sometimes wear extra small, but I typically don’t like things to be too snug.
The taupe sweater is in size “extra small” and wine is in size “small”.
Extra Small (1 size down from what I normally wear): fits perfectly. It looks polished, covers my bum and does not swallow my hands.
Small (my normal size in most brands): fits oversized. I love it though! It looks very slouchy and cozy.

- Free People Isla Cable Knit sweater (xsmall)– A good staple piece! Easily the best cable knit sweater I own.
- Abercrombie Jeans – obviously not an Nsale product, but these are my fav jeans!
- Steve Madden Bootie (chestnut suede) – Ordered 1/2 size up for my wide foot. Classic color & silhouette. very comfy!
If I had 15 seconds to put on an OOTD during the fall, this would be it.
I am wearing the Free People Isla Cable Knit sweater in an extra small, but I purchased mine previously from Revolve (linked here, limited sizes but it’s on sale!).
It is a classic Free People sweater that returns every year, however it is one of my favorites! You cannot beat the quality of this cable knit AND the fact that it is on sale.
Worth it? Yes! This is a staple sweater in my wardrobe. If I had to choose between any of the Free People Sweaters, it would be this one.

Spanx Faux Leather Leggings need no introduction. I have had this pair since 2018 and they have held up beautifully! They do not lose their stretch or sheen and they dress up any outfit!
These are a staple item for me and I’ve easily gotten my money’s worth throughout the years!
worth it? Yes! If you know you will wear them then they will be SO worth it. Don’t be afraid of the “leather”, they have a very subtle sheen that looks classic and polished.
Nsale Try on – Turtleneck Sweater

- Sweater (sized up 1 to a medium) – A good staple piece! Super soft, lovely colors.
- Zella Leggings (small)– lasts forever and I wear them all the time! tts, wearing a small.
- Boots (linking this year’s version)- Same brand. Love this brand for boots!
This Turtleneck Sweater returns every year for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It is a classic and one of the more affordable options!
I sized up to a medium for a more legging friendly fit, otherwise it’s pretty TTS.
I love wearing this with my go to Zella Leggings and a pair of knee high boots, sneakers or loafers. It’s such an easy, yet polished looking outfit!
Worth it? Yes! I’ve owned this sweater since 2021 and still wear it. Side note, the wash instructions are strict, but I wash on gentle cycle and air dry and it has remained soft.
Nsale Try on – High Waist Bootcut Jeans

- Bootcut Jeans (size 0) – Flattering, looks cute with chunky sweaters and bodysuits!
- Booties (amazon) “1-nude”, 7 – tts, comfy and way more affordable than most Nsale booties
- Sweater (amazon, “porpoise”, small ) – SO soft! It has a bit of an oversized fit and is just a great staple sweater.
These jeans were THE jeans last year, and I assume they will be a popular item this year as well!
They are SO flattering! I am 5’3 and these jeans make me look and feel tall! They feel like a trendy flare without being too “loud”. I just love them.
They run big. I am normally a 2, but went with a 0 regular based on the reviews.
Worth it? Yes! These are THE fall jeans and the only jeans I’ve ever purchased from the Nsale.
Nsale Try on – Zella Live In Joggers

- Black Joggers (xsmall) – A must have! Flattering, doesn’t lose their shape
- Nike Air (tts, 7) – comfy, tts, very supportive. LOVE the bright poppy color.
- White Thumb hole Top (small) – I need every color. The best throw on top for fall-spring.
One of my top favorite Nsale purchase EVER are these Zella Live in Joggers. Every year they release a new color or two, and they are always an obvious purchase for me. I wear them all year long.
These joggers hold their shape (no saggy jogger booty) and can be styled so many ways.
Zella runs a little big for me, so I always get an extra small unless I want a more oversized fit.
Worth it? Yes! These are a staple item for me and recommend them to everyone!
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2023 Shoes
Not going to lie, the shoes are kind of lacking in this year’s sale. At the same time, the shoes are also the best part of this year’s sale, because everything else is a little “meh” in my opinion.
Nsale Shoes – New Balance Sneakers
One thing I’ve recently learned about myself, I am a chunky sneaker girly! I never got into skater style sneakers, or the infamous golden goose. However, I jumped on this chunky sneaker trend last year and was sold!
These New Balance Sneakers are beautiful and VERY comfortable. They feel like little clouds and give me a little height. I have a somewhat wide foot and these felt very true to size, easy to walk in and supportive.
The coloring is stunning too! Definitely a staple item.
Worth it? : Yes! This is a product I will literally wear year around for years. The neutral coloring goes well with everything and it’s a timeless take on the chunky sneaker trend.
Nsale Shoes – Nike Air Max 270 Sneaker
These Nike Air Max Sneakers caught my eye instantly. I mean, you can’t miss that poppy orange color (I believe Nike calls it “volt”). This colorway is VERY bright in person.
Like all Nike Air Max sneakers, these are super comfortable! They were true to size for me. I love this style for working out in since they are very cushioned and shock absorbing (I’m gettin’ old, folks). They can be worn with casual outfits as well!
Worth it? Yes! Nike Air rarely goes on sale. I wish they offered a more neutral color, but this orange is SO fun and unlike anything I own.
Nsale Shoes – Birkenstocks Madrid Big Buckle Sandal in Ecru
I have been wanting a quality sandal for a while! Birkenstocks have been around forever, but they never peaked my interest until the high shine/big buckle designs came out.
This Birkenstock Madrid Sandal is just the right amount of feminine chic in classic Birkenstock form. They are SO comfy. The gold detail is stunning against the creamy ecru color.
Sizing is odd, so I suggest ordering the two sizes you think you may be. I am usually a 6.5-7, so in Birkenstock sizing I would either be a 37 or 38. I went with the 38 since my foot is more wide than narrow. However, the 38 is a little too big and I will need to exchange for a 37 (hopefully they don’t sell out)
Worth it? Yes! Birkenstock is a classic brand that rarely goes on sale. If you’ve been eyeing a pair, now is the time to purchase!
Nsale Try on – Steve Madden Havannah Pointed Toe Bootie
I have been wanting a nice pair of cognac brown booties for a few years now. I really wanted leather, but these Havannah Pointed Toe Suede Booties by Steve Madden caught my eye.
They are very comfortable! I was surprised. I love the classic silhouette and the suede is stunning. However, I still think I want a leather finish since I have a similar suede bootie in a lighter taupe shade.
Worth it? If you need a classic bootie in your wardrobe then yes! However, there is nothing flashy, trendy or new about this particular bootie. It’s very basic, but that’s the point (I think?)
Steve Madden Cognac Suede Mule (previous version now on Amazon)
There are a few things that are certain in life: death, taxes and the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale releasing the same mules year after year.
This is a previous season Steve Madden mule in cognac suede. They look pretty dang close to this year’s Cassidy Loafer Mule by Steve Madden.
However, with all of that being said I do want to note that Steve Madden does make a quality mule! They are comfy, flattering and the colors are always classic (and the same every year haha).
Worth it? If you are in need of a new pair of mules, yes! They go well with everything. However, if you already own a pair then you are not missing out on anything new.
