Bellamia Sofa Review – our Stunning Red Velvet Bella Sofa

I have a little nook across from our dining room that I like to call the “sunroom”. This space has a southeast facing bay window that lets in the prettiest natural sunshine from sunrise until late afternoon.

Up until now, this space kind of became a catch all room. Toys, empty boxes, workout equipment… It was time to give this space a purpose and personality. A little cozy nook for the whole family. Our “Sunroom”.

Meet the star of the show, my new Bellamia Bella sofa.

I ordered the Bella Two Seat sofa in the Rust Red Performance Fabric with “Pillow Cushions” and a storage ottoman. And she’s a beaut!

Bellamia Bella Sofa – Overall Quality

Let’s get straight to the good stuff! Quality.

Performance Velvet

As a family of 6 (myself, my husband, our two very young kids and our two free range beagles) we need durability more than anything. We need a fabric that can withstand zoomies (both toddler and dog), a few coffee spills here and there and NOT pill overtime.

Bellamia’s Performance Velvet was an obvious choice for us since it is kid friendly, pet friendly, AND machine washable.

Durability

It has barely been a week, so I obviously cannot share longterm durability. However, I can say that the pillow seat cushions feel relaxed yet supportive. They bounce back to their original shape after you get up and off the couch. The back and side cushions are even more firm and supportive, yet incredibly comfortable.

The base of the couch is very sturdy and solid. Most importantly, the back of the couch and arm rests are wide enough for my dogs to loaf on. This was highly important to us since this is their prime bird and wild bunny watch spot.

Only time will tell, but the Bella sofa is very sturdy and well made.

Overall Comfort

The Bellamia Bella Sofa is equally as comfortable as it is stunning. This is definitely the sofa that you can melt into and lounge for hours. With the added ottoman (with storage btw) I can easily fall asleep. My husband is 6’2 and the seats are deep enough for him to lounge into.

Low Back Headrest

The Bellamia Bella sofa has a more modern height to it, meaning the back cushions sit a little lower than traditional style sofas. I personally love the modern look of low back cushions, but wasn’t sure how they would feel.

Now that I get to enjoy my Bella sofa, I actually really enjoy the feel of the low back cushions. When I am sitting up straight, the top of the back cushions hits right at the middle of my shoulders. It’s the perfect height to feel firm and supported.

The low back cushions really shine when lounging on the couch. I can just sink into them, resting my head at the top of the back cushions. It is SO comfortable.

Pillow Style Seat Cushions

The Bella sofa with pillow style cushions is the perfect lounging sofa! Aesthetically, the warm red velvet is so cozy and inviting. The casual effortless look of the pillow cushions make the space feel intentional and lived in.

I chose the pillow cushions over the box cushions. The box cushions have a very sleek, classic sofa look. Whereas the pillow cushions look a bit more casual, cozy and offer a softer, more relaxed feel.

I know I would love either cushion style, but the pillow style seemed to fit the casual, cozy and lived in vibe of our sunroom.

Modular Sofa

The wonderful thing about Bellamia sofas, is that they are modular! I could easily order another seat to add onto this couch. I have no plans on moving anytime soon, but it’s nice to have that option.

Rust Red Performance Velvet

Bellamia has a good variety of performance fabrics to choose from. They are honestly all so stunning.

As a certified indecisive over-thinker, I was happy to see that I could order free fabric swatches off their website. That way I could see the color vibrancy in person, feel the fabrics and pair them up with the decor in my space (then overthink some more of course).

Our sunroom already had warm wood-look LVP flooring, dusty blue linen curtains, a colorful floral rug and really good natural sunshine. With that being said, I was so certain that I wanted the Sage Green or Dusty Blue Performance Velvet. I was also interested in the browns. The red velvet wasn’t on my radar at all.

After seeing the Rust Red Performance Velvet swatch in person, I was instantly sold! The way the warm vibrant red pops out against the cream and green foliage of the rug completely won me over.

I also really loved the idea of trying a new bold color in my home that I normally would never go for.

As I shared above, I fell in love with the vibrancy of the Rust Red performance velvet after ordering all of the free fabric swatches and seeing them in the lighting of the exact room.

Our sunroom has large southeast facing windows. This room gets the best natural sunshine for almost the entire day. The Rust Red performance velvet practically glows in this type of natural light! The red becomes a very warm, fiery almost terracotta color. It is stunning!

By the end of the afternoon hours, the sunshine is on the other side of our house, so this room obviously gets a little more dim and shadowy. The red velvet takes on a deeper, richer brick red shade. It’s so rich and moody…a whole new personality!

We haven’t had a cloudy day yet (good ole Arizona) but overcast lighting tends to make colors a little more subtle.

Shipping and Delivery

Our sofa order was placed on May 26th and shipped within a few days. On May 28th, I received a call from the furniture delivery company to schedule delivery. We opted for the first available date and time, June 3rd.

We had our Bellamia Bella Sofa delivered on June 3rd and on the early side of our delivery time window. The delivery drivers were very friendly.

Everything went smoothly and before we knew it, we had our brand new red velvet sofa.

We opted to assemble our sofa on our own. Being that it is only a two-seater with a storage ottoman, it was a pretty simple task to take on.

The instruction booklet was easy to follow with simple illustrations. The sofa pieces were easy to move and slide right into place via bottom brackets.

The entire process took my husband and I less than 30 minutes. Bonus: my kids scored a couple giant cardboard boxes to turn into forts for the week.

Overall Thoughts

The Bellamia Bella two seater sofa in Rust Red is simply stunning, comfortable, high quality and at an amazing price point. I am so happy with how it looks in our little sunroom. The Rust Red Performance Velvet was such a bold choice, but it completely transformed the space.

Best of all, I am content knowing that this is a piece that will last us years to come.
