Happy Friday!
It is officially Public Access for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! While much of the inventory has limited sizing now, there are still some pretty good finds that are fully in stock!
If there was an out of stock item(s) that you really wanted from the sale, I would suggest purchasing it in whatever size or color is available. Once the sale ends, the items will restock and you can exchange your purchase for another size or color! I do this every year without fail.
Very rarely there will be an item that doesn’t return in all the colors and sizes. If that is the case, you are able to return anything to Nordstrom anytime. They seriously have the best return policy!
Or, check out these currently in stock items for your fall outfit inspo 🙂

I am personally not over joggers in my daily wardrobe. In fact, they have become a staple item since the 2020 work-from-home life! Instead of purchasing all the trendy sweaters and dresses, I invested in quality joggers.
This brand of joggers is half the price of lululemon, however they are just as good! They hold their shape, look put together (for joggers) and I’ll say it… they make your booty look as if you rarely skip leg day.
Style tip: To avoid the sloppy saturday morning look (which I am still a huge fan of btw) opt for thin, athletic materials instead of stiff linen blends, fleece or cotton joggers (all doomed to pill and sag).
Not only will the athletic materials look more slimming, they will hold their shape all day. No saggy booty, folks! Spandex, polyester and lycra blended joggers are your friends!
2. Fall Layered Dress Outfit

I love layering chunky knit sweaters over dresses in the fall! It is such an easy and fun way to create multiple outfits out of one dress.
Style tip: wear a thin belt over any dress and tuck the sweater over and under the belt. Or, tuck a more cropped sweater into a cute belt if you want the belt to show.
3. Fall Transition Outfit

Pretty sure my fall wardrobe is basic fall transition pieces. It sadly does not feel like “fall” in Phoenix until November. However, I still participate with cute, fall colored t-shirt dresses and lightweight plaid flannels!
Style tip: T-shirt dresses can sometimes look boxy and potato-sacky. Add shape by tying a plaid flannel, chambray button down or denim jacket around the waist. Or, sinch both sides of the dress waist with a small safety pin inside the dress.
4. Fall Work Sweater Dress Outfit

There is something about this deep brown sweater dress that looks sooo good with black! This type of dress is perfect for office attire to happy hour.
Style tip: turtle neck dresses can sometimes look a little busy or “fluffy” up top. Balance out the extra fabric with precise lines. Think blazers, lightweight ruanas, coats with straight angled collars, thin hoop earrings, etc. Avoid chunky knit cardigans and statement jewelry.
5. Fall Work to Weekend Outfit

Why this dress is still in stock is a mystery to me! This brand is one of my favorite Nordstrom brands. Their quality is amazing and this dress is no exception! It is casual enough to be worn with sneakers, but still sleek for booties and sophisticated ruanas.
Style tip: Sometimes when I put on an outfit it just looks “off”. Even though all the pieces match, there is just a vibe that is missing! Try the combination of solid, print and texture.
The black dress is a simple solid piece, the snake print shoes add a focal point print and the texture of the leather jacket or cashmere knit ruana add a bit of lux.
6. Casual Plaid Flannel Outfit

I decided to take a different approach when planning my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchases this year. Instead of shopping based off of “omg! that’s cute, I need it!”, I reflected on what I actually needed and actually would wear.
I love a good bootie, but I rarely wear them if the heel is too high. I always grab my sneakers and lower heeled booties/boots. Likewise, I am officially self-employed now, so there is no need for trendy work attire. This year I invested in more everyday staple pieces.
Style tip: Planning a neutral fall capsule wardrobe is a great shopping strategy to ensure you have multiple outfits opposed to random purchases.
- Medium-Dark skinny jeans
- Black skinny jeans
- Thin white, light gray, beige and/or black mock neck sweater for layering
- Camel Coat (the correct weight for your climate)
- Neutral oversized sweaters
- Black leggings (spanx faux leather are worth every penny btw)
- Neutral bootie in a heel you are comfortable with
- A pair of black or neutral mules
- knee high or over the knee boots in black or brown
- Basic t-shirts. Plain, camo, striped, leopard print, etc.
- Oversized plaid flannel
- Sneakers
- Waterproof boots/bootie
7. Rainy Day Fall Outfit Idea

I LOVE these waterproof lug booties. Even though we don’t get snow in Phoenix, it still rains. When it does rain, I am always struggling to find a shoe to wear. I don’t want to ruin my boots, but I don’t want soggy sneakers and socks either.
Style tip: Lug boots are definitely in, but they can be unflattering. As someone with short legs and a super overlapping thigh gap (as I like to call it), masculine boots can make my legs look real stocky.
I have better luck with boots that have a slender taper up the ankle. The zipper up the ankle and slender tapered top are very flattering on these lug boots.
