It’s been almost two years since I remodeled my primary bathroom. The star of the show has always been the checkerboard tile floors. However, “winter is coming” and we all know porcelain tiles are FREEZING during the colder months.
I’ve been on the search for the perfect runner rug that would not only be suitable for a bathroom, but also paired well with the checkerboard flooring. After browsing through “Washable Runner Rugs” on Lowe’s website I instantly was drawn to The Ruggable Maxine Rug. The design is very classic, but has a similar diamond motif to the checkerboard flooring. It was a pretty quick “add to cart & check out” situation.

All About Ruggable’s Machine Washable Rugs

Ruggable Rugs are a swappable, stain resistant & fully machine washable rug.
Each rug comes with a non-slip rug pad (the black base). I find this rug pad to be the perfect amount of cushion without being too thick. The top of the non-slip rug pad almost feels like velcro which helps the rug topper stay put.
I was very impressed by how the entire rug stays completely in place on the porcelain tiles! Once the rug topper is placed evenly on the non-slip rug pad, you would never know there are two separate pieces.
I became an instant fan of Ruggable Rugs after feeling the quality for myself!

Rug Pattern & Checkerboard Flooring

Pattern rugs or plain rugs on Checkerboard Floors?! Both can look stunning, but I am always team patter!
As with anything surrounding home decor, it all really comes down to personal preference. I personally love a good pattern (hence the somewhat bold flooring choice).
A more plain and neutral runner rug on top of checkerboard flooring would have been a safe and beautiful choice, but I felt it would have toned down the entire space. Whereas, the gorgeous pattern of the The Ruggable Maxine Runner Rug actually brings out the best of the bathroom features.
The Ruggable Maxine Rug has a bit of a soft diamond pattern, which makes it feel like the missing puzzle piece to the bathroom checkerboard floors.
The coloring on this rug features a medium dark blue with creamy beige. My bathroom gets warm western sun exposures, so I find the beige to lean a tad bit pink, which I personally prefer over yellow beige.
Closing Thoughts

I could not be happier with how the overall pattern and colors fit in with the entire bathroom! This rug instantly became one of those pieces that felt like it’s always been there with how well it works.
The fact that this rug is water resistant, stain resistant and machine washable is so reassuring! I am already planning the next room that could use a Ruggable Rug from Lowe’s…
