Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring kind of gets a bad rap… but I also kind of understand why. Nowadays, we often assume LVP to be that outdated grey flooring with a repetitive wood grain which ends up looking like peel & stick contact paper on the ground. (Everytime I see a home on Zillow with that flooring, I cry a little on the inside)
Not all luxury vinyl plank flooring belongs in the 2010s. A Quality Luxury Vinyl Plank floor can look classic and pretty dang close to hardwood floors. Similar in aesthetics, but way more affordable, low maintenance, waterproof & scratch-proof!
Would I have loved a stunning hardwood floor in my house? Of course! Do I live in a dry desert climate that can be a nightmare for hardwood flooring? Yes. It is just not practical in some places.
When it came down to deciding on flooring material, I really had to look at the bigger picture. Cost, longevity, maintenance, etc.
Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring really was a great choice for us!
All about our Wood Look + Waterproof Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring

I was so ready to rip out the carpet the moment we moved into our home summer of 2020. However, I am glad we took a few months to find the best Luxury Vinyl Flooring option for us.
We ended up folling in love with this Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring from Lowe’s in the shade “Burbank Oak”. Low-Key, I was drawn to the name, since I am originally from the Burbank, Cali area. Luckily, my husband and I also loved the actual coloring too.
The coloring online is pretty close to what you see in person, however it does not really have that green/yellow tint that some of the product photos show. Our wall color (Pure White by Sherwin Williams) really brings out the warm natural wood tones.
Product Features we loved:
- 100% waterproof, kid-proof & pet-proof
- scratch, scuff, stain & dent-resistant
- DIY friendly, click installation
- recommended underlayment
- matching floor transition pieces available
- real wood like texture on the surface
- various plank designs for natural look
- built in padding on each panel for comfort & noise reduction
- GREENGUARD Gold certification!
- Lifetime warranty
Professional Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring installation

I have heard that LVP installation is not difficult. However, at the time we had two rambunctious 6 month old puppies and both worked as full time teachers. After going over the final cost estimate with Lowe’s, we felt the extra cost of labor was actually worth it.
We opted for professional LVP floor installation from Lowe’s and had the best experience! They sent credible contractors and completed everything within about three days.

Our LVP Flooring after 5 Years

This project was done shortly after we moved into our home in 2020. After 5 years, a roof leak after a monsoon and two rowdy toddlers later we have had ZERO issues with our LVP flooring. Not a single scratch. We vacuum and mop as we would any flooring (the mopping solution we use). Still just as obsessed!
Our Burbank Oak LVP flooring is still one of our favorite updates to our home! I just love how it brings out the best in all decor. Jewel tone colors look rich, whites look creamy and every room has a constant veil of warmth from the wood tones.
10/10 would use this exact flooring again!
