Honest Review of my Interior Define James Sectional – 2 months later
Last February I ordered my first piece of furniture from Interior Define. After a short few months (May), my beautiful green velvet sectional was delivered and set up in my living room.
It was love at first sight! After such a big purchase, it was nice to feel the feeling of “this was SO worth it”.
Do I still feel the same 2.5 months later? Yes. 100% yes!

Honest Review of my Interior Define James Sectional – Performance Velvet
Not to be dramatic, but not a day goes by where I do not melt into the corner spot of my interior define sectional and think to myself, “I freaking love this couch”.
In my first blog post about this sectional (post: Our New Interior Define James Sectional), I share more about all the research I did leading up to ordering this sectional. Likewise, I talk about the ordering process and delivery.
Now, I am able to share a little more about my actual experience with owning the Interior Define James 3-Seat Bumper Sectional (in “Essex”).

What I love about the James Bumper Sectional
My Interior Define James 3-Seat Bumper Sectional (in “Essex”) is such a statement piece! Aesthetically, it has completely transformed my living room. More importantly, it is incredibly durable and comfortable.
Here is a quick list of all the reasons I love my interior define sectional:
- equally as comfortable as it is beautiful
- wide seats are perfect for napping, but don’t feel too overwhelming either (I’m 5’2)
- throw pillows are very cushy and really add to the “melting like a marshmallow into my couch” experience.
- performance velvet is very soft and lux feeling
- water beads right off
- any food stains come off with a wet washcloth and do not set.
- seat cushions have straps to keep them in place
- cushions do not lose their shape (I have 2 snoopy dogs that like to “snoopy” on the head rests)
Dog Fur.
While I still believe this sectional is literal perfection, it does show dog hair. As a mother of beagles, no matter what color fabric I chose, I’d either see black, brown or white fur. Luckily, the fur just sits on top of the velvet fibers, and does not become interwoven like other fabrics (My previous couch had a woven tweed fabric and dog fur would some how become intertwined within the woven fibers making it super difficult to remove).
Before that deters you away from any performance velvet, my two beagles are in their summer shedding season and there is pet hair literally everywhere. (my beagles both have a white undercoat that turns into fluffy confetti every summer).
I am removing dog fur with my ChomChom a few times a week, and it honestly has become another part of my home routine. The ChomChom is very effective, but every few weeks or so I will do a full vacuum of the couch (on and underneath the cushions).
I started laying out a blanket where they normally lay, and it has definitely helped! I will report back this fall/winter once their shedding calms down and I no longer am vacuuming up fluffy tumbleweeds.
With that being said, I am still VERY happy with my choice in fabric. I would still choose it over and over again. The Performance Velvet is the most durable when it comes to pets (especially cat claws), so I have zero regrets.
Would I purchase from Interior Define again?
Yes. 100% Yes!
One step at a time, but writing my wish list down is manifestation right?!

- This bedframe in “Denim Performance Hunt Stripe”
- These counter stools in “Fawn Perfromance velvet” (with oak cabinets?! yesss)
- This breakfast nook bench in “lavender” (imagine that color with a round dark wood table!!)
- This accent chair (color not yet decided hehe) (will either match my green sectional, or be the perfect contrast)
- This sofa loveseat for my den (maybe chambray, fawn or a fun pop of color)
The quality, durability and color selection with Interior Define is top tier. As someone who experiences buyer’s remorse with even the most affordable items, it has been so nice to be 100% confident in the purchase I made.
