Bathroom Color Refresh with Lowe’s – Svelte Sage by Sherwin Williams

Bathroom Color Refresh with Lowe’s

Nothing says summer quite like an impromptu room makeover! This time around, I have decided to repaint my hallway bathroom.

Our little 90s builder grade bathroom has come a long way since I first bought my house. I started with a blue (questionably grey?) wall color that did nothing but make the space feel yellow and dingy.

After a mini update a few years ago, I was left with a space that I was almost happy with… however, the deep green board & batten paint color (middle image below) has bothered me since the moment the paint brush touched the wall.

From the hallway looking in, the deep green always appeared as black.

It was finally time for a change… Off to Lowe’s we go!

I have accepted that a “moody aesthetic” just did not work in my particular bathroom. This time, I was in search of a medium-to-light green that would vibe with the southwest earthiness of the cabinets, wall texture and tiles.

I was leaning towards an olive shade to help play with the warm tones in the wood (which I love) and help tone down the pink in our southwestern tile.

Instead of trying to force our small windowless bathroom into a moody aesthetic, I decided to enhance the fixed features we already had.

HGTV Home by Sherwin Williams paint at Lowe’s has always been my go-to. The quality of paint, the colors and the one coat finish is a game changer.

Plus, I love how Lowe’s displays the color cards by aesthetic (coastal, earthy, neutral, etc.) It makes the planning process so smooth.

After perusing down the color wall (as one must do) at Lowe’s, I fell in love with the “Earthy Charm” collection from HGTV by Sherwin Williams. I feel like that palette really suits the fixed components of my bathroom (the beige tile, honey oak cabinets, textured walls, southwest setting etc.)

The color, “Svelte Sage” stood out to me right away.

This nature-inspired green is such a chameleon of a paint color. Svelte Sage has a grey undertone, but it doesn’t have that “blue” feel that many cooler toned muted green colors have.

In our bathroom, Svelte Sage warms up beautifully against the “Pure White” (by Sherwin Williams) upper walls, Honey Oak Cabinets and neutral/warm light bulbs.

Svelte Sage & Pure White (Satin Finish)

Svelte Sage really plays so well with every surface in our bathroom. I could see this shade of green working in just about any space, especially kitchen cabinets. It feels fun yet still grounded and almost neutral, earthy but also somewhat elegant.

In my small bathroom with no natural lighting, Svelte Green takes on an almost golden olive color. It makes the space appear organic and earthy without feeling too muddy.

Above the Svelte Sage Board & Batten, I did a fresh coat of “Pure White” by Sherwin Williams (both colors in a Satin Finish). We have this color in almost every room of our home and it never disappoints. It is the perfect white that doesn’t feel too stark, too warm or too icy. Most importantly, it never clashes with white surfaces like marble and porcelain.

“Pure White” always becomes the perfect canvas to let other colors shine, like Svelte Sage.

In all, I am VERY happy with how this Bathroom Refresh turned out. Svelte Sage really brought life to this small windowless space. Against the 90s honey oak cabinets, gold accents and pinky beige tile, Svelte Sage feels organic, earthy, and a bit elegant.

This bathroom paint project was a final success!
