As a 90’s kid, Christmas time was simply magical! Warm incandescent lights, Christmas movie marathons, hot cocoa with mini marshmallows and all of the classic decorations.

Christmas during the 1990’s was not about constantly buying new cheap decor. Our family Christmas decorations were the same every year. Sure, they were mostly old, but they were high quality, precious and memorable. As a kid, I personally looked forward to seeing our family decorations every year!

Now that I have my own young kids, I want nothing more than for them to look forward to their favorite decorations and pieces of Christmas every year. Which means, I need to inveat in quality, classic and intentional Christmas decor.

Lowe’s has been our favorite place to shop for quality, traditional Christmas decorations!

Multi-color Incandescent lights

When I think back on the Christmas trees of my childhood, I specifically remember the way the lights looked. They were warm, colorful and just felt like Christmas to me.

In a world filled with LED holiday lights (which are beautiful in their own way), I truly just missed the cozy warm glow that incandescent lights filled the room with. Lowe’s has a wide assortment of holiday lights including the traditional multi-color incandescent lights!

It felt like a walk through holiday memory lane as I was wrapping our tree in these 90’s style multi-color incandescent Christmas lights! They turned out beautiful.

Starting a Christmas Village

There was nothing like the childhood excitement of seeing your parents bring out the Christmas boxes for the season! I still remember that specific smell of old pine needles and dust as we would burst open each box to find our classic favorite decorations.

I want nothing more than for my own kids to build their own memories of whatever holiday decoration resonates with them. Whether that be the specific color of lights in the Christmas tree, their favorite snowmen figurines or the Christmas Village we are starting as a family.

Lowe’s has a wide assortment of Christmas Village buildings and Accessories! We plan on purchasing a new piece every year and expand the village as our family grows up.

This year, we purchased The Ski Lodge and Gingerbread Ferris Wheel. I love how the ski lodge casts what appears to be blue northern lights onto the wall! It was a neat surprise 🙂

Holiday Garland + Command Hooks

homemade christmas garland. colorful paper rings christmas.

My oldest is at the age where he is starting to understand and be excited about Christmas. He constantly wants to help out and do “Christmas activities” with mommy. We’ve been baking, coloring and making homemade decorations for the house.

These construction paper garland rings were a big hit and they look lovely with fresh cedar garland.

If I’ve learned anything throughout the years, it would be to skip over all the frustrations of hanging up Christmas garland and just invest in command hooks!

We use these clear command hooks from Lowe’s for all of our garland every year. When we run out of adhesive strips, we simply purchase this pack of command hook adhesive strips (also from Lowe’s).

Merry Christmas!
